“Qualified Immunity and Use of Force”

In this first episode of “Dissecting Policing Problems and Solutions in the Wake of George Floyd,” the SC4CJR team dives into the legal and real-life issues behind “qualified immunity” and police “use of force.” Constitutional Law professor and Civil Rights Attorney, Scott Anthony of Charleston School of Law, explains qualified immunity and how it is applied in the United States.

Also, one of the nation’s top experts in policing, Professor Seth Stoughton of University of South Carolina School of Law,, discusses his research and knowledge regarding police use of force and the laws, or lack of laws, behind it.

Both professors discuss possible solutions to police misconduct and how we can all help in creating positive change in our criminal justice system.
